Slowly but surely, marketers have warmed up to the idea of Snapchat, and with 7+ Billion video views and more than 100 million daily active Snapchatters, it’s about time – and it’s not just for us millennials anymore.
Snapchat is associated with friendship and connections, so it’s a personal marketing tool that allows followers to feel like they’re “on the inside”, seeing behind-the-scenes content and making viewers feel like they’re a part of the business. Now, Snapchat has added one more way that brands can communicate their message that has real implications on the local level: geofilters.
Perfect for local marketing, brands anywhere within the U.S., U.K. and Canada can create and customize geofilters for as little as $5 a day (in reality, it’s closer to $15 a day after we tested). The process involves submitting your image, picking your dates and selecting your location. The filter then goes off to Snapchat for review. After it goes live, Snapchat will send you an email with metrics on your geofilter including views and uses. Then: voila, you have a simple, fun, customized and targeted way to interact with your audience.
